Elemental nitrogen is colourless, odourless, flavourless, non-toxic gas, which is chemically inert, i.e. very non-reactive at low temperatures. Nitrogen is incombustible, therefore it represses burning processes. If nitrogen displaces necessary for breathing oxygen from the air, it causes suffocation.
Nitrogen constitutes 78.1 % by dry air volume of the Earth's atmosphere. Nitrogen density at 0°C and 101.325 kPa is 1.251 g/l, melting point is -210°C, boiling point is -195.79°C, and critical point is -146.94°C at 3.39 MPa.
Nitrogen is present in all living organisms, i.e. it is a constituent element of amino acids, proteins, nucleic acids (DNA and RNA); nitrogen resides in the structure of almost all chemical carriers, it is a defining component of alkaloids as biological molecules are produced by many organisms. Nitrogen is used in many industries, for example, in the production of ammonia, nitric acid, cyanides, etc.
Nitrogen is obtained from atmospheric air by means of deep freezing. It is produced in compliance with the company standard of AB Achema. Nitrogen is filled into grey cylinders with black shoulder, cylinder bundles, Euro cylinders and other cryogenic tanks.
Nitrogen is also very widely used in chemical industry, e.g. for the production of fertilisers, explosives, colourants, medicines and other chemical products, for the production of coke as well as for pipe leakage tests. Nitrogen is irreplaceable for creating an inert medium, in cases of undesirable oxidation process when it is necessary to store and pack foodstuffs, in order to prevent product spoilage, etc. Besides, nitrogen is used in the production of electronic parts, e.g. transistors, diodes, integrated circuits and stainless steel. Dry and compressed nitrogen as non-conducting gas in high voltage equipment is a perfect solution for military aviation fuel systems (to reduce the risk of inflammation), sometimes nitrogen is applied to fill the wheels of vehicles and planes as nitrogen gas is inert and supports neither moisture nor oxidation.
Gaschema offers you gas nitrogen by 10 l (1.5 m3, 150 bar), 40 l (6 m3, 150 bar) and cylinder bundles 12 x 50 l (90 m3, 150 bar or 114 m3, 200 bar) as well as liquid nitrogen sold by tons in Euro cylinders and Dewar flasks.
