The beginnings of Gaschema are related to the history of the state enterprise "Azotas", when in the year 1964 the first Air Separation Plant was launched.
On 9th September 2003, the Management Board of the Public Limited Liability Company Achema made a decision to establish a gas trading branch of Achema in order to develop the activities of technical gas on the basis of direct contacts with customers. On 11th December of the same year, Gaschema Branch of AB Achema was registered.
Main events of Gaschema:
On 1st January 2004, the first cylinder of carbonic acid gas was sold.
In January 2004, the first station of carbonic acid gas evaporation was installed at the greenhouse farm "Kietaviškių gausa".
In 2005, the Coca-Cola company certificate for carbonic acid gas was obtained, gas supply was started to Latvia, Russia, and Belarus.
In 2006, trade in argon, gas mixtures, acetylene and propane-butane was started; special-purpose foodstuff or food additive registration certificate for liquid carbonic acid gas was obtained. According to this certificate, liquid carbonic acid gas can be used as food additive E290 for the production of carbonated beverages and other foodstuffs in compliance with the requirements HN 53.
In 2007, a new modern carbonic acid gas production line with production capacity of 100 tons per day was launched, 2 new carbon dioxide storage tanks (100 t each) were constructed, the Coca-Cola certificate providing the possibility to deliver carbonic acid gas to Coca-Cola divisions in Middle and South Europe was obtained, trade centres in Klaipėda, Šiauliai and Vilnius were opened.
In 2007, new activity, i.e. trade in urea solution AdBlue, was started; since the second half of 2007, AdBlue has been exported to Latvia, Estonia and Russia. At the end of 2007, urea solution AdBlue was awarded the silver medal "Metų gaminys" (Product of the Year).
In 2008, company SIA "Viteg" (Latvia) was acquired.
