Carbonic acid gas (chemical name is carbon dioxide) is colourless, odourless and flavourless gas widely spread in nature. At standard temperature and normal atmospheric pressure, density of carbon dioxide is some 1.98 kg/m3, i.e. carbonic acid gas is approximately 1.5 times heavier than air. A molecule of carbon dioxide (O=С=O) consists of one carbon atom and two oxygen atoms joined together by a linear bond. The molecule has almost no electrical charge and after complete oxidation it becomes moderately reactive and incombustible; however, it supports burning of metals, e.g. magnesium.
At -78.51 °C, carbon dioxide changes its aggregate state: from solid it turns to gas or from gas state turns to solid skipping the intermediate liquid state (at normal atmospheric pressure, carbonic acid gas cannot be liquid). Carbonic acid gas becomes liquid only under the impact of atmospheric pressure higher than 5.1 (marketable liquid carbonic acid gas is compressed with the pressure of 65-70 atmospheres). The triple point of carbonic acid gas, i.e. the state when the product may be gas, liquid or solid, is at 518 kPa and -56.6°C, whereas its critical point is at 7.38 MPa and 31.1 °C.
Gaschema offers you carbonic acid gas designed for food industry as well as technical carbonic acid gas.
Carbonic acid for FOOD INDUSTRY is in compliance with Coca-cola requirements. Carbonic acid gas is also certified as food additive E290 and may be used for production of carbonated beverages according to the requirements HN 53. Carbonic acid designed for FOOD INDUSTRY is used for production of soft drinks, beer, carbonated wines, for dough raising (fermentation), also as food additive, freezing agent for fast cooling, storage and transportation of food raw material or ready-made products, and for production of modified atmosphere packages (MAP).
TECHNICAL carbonic acid is used: in manufacturing and construction industries, for creating an inert medium (e.g. for metal welding); in different fields of industry, for freezing or cooling, storage; also as a fire extinguishing measure, as an inert medium or raw material in chemical processes; in metal industry, for reinforcing the hardness of casts; in greenhouse farms and in many other industries.
Carbonic acid gas is produced in accordance with the standard ĮST 156667399-27:2008 of AB Achema and is filled into grey cylinders, tanks and Euro cylinders.
Gaschema offers you alimentary and (or) technical carbonic acid gas: in 13.4 l cylinders (10 kg), 40 l cylinders (20, 24 or 29 kg) and 50 l cylinders (37 kg), in Euro cylinders by 230 kg. We may fill cylinders of other capacity as well. For customers purchasing considerable amounts of carbonic acid gas, tanks of carbonic dioxide are installed, whereas carbonic acid gas is delivered by tank trucks.
